The Hotel lies just 100 yards from the seafront, yet is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Sue and I took over in July 2007 and have really enjoyed the hospitality side of the business. We have spent the winter putting our mark on the place and have made quite a few changes especially with the décor. We will carry on with more improvments next year. This year we hope to inprove our menu and offer local sourced meats from our local butcher who has just won Sussex butcher of the year award 2007/08.

Eastbourne is a very fine example of a Victorian seaside town that nestles at the foot of the Sussex downs and the famous Beachy Head as well as the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs. Not far from our front door you will find the main shopping centre, railway station, the Wish Tower and Bandstand, Redoubt fortress & museum, Sovereign Centre indoor leisure pool. Three theatres with top shows, along with many fine old pubs and a host of restaurants. Just in front of the pier there is the carpet gardens and up to four miles of level promenade.

A little further afield we have the historic towns of Lewes and Rye and Battle (the site of the famous 1066 invasion), as well as the city of Brighton. Eastbourne hosts several events every year and the most popular being Tennis week (14th to 21st June) and Airbourne (14th to 17th August) the biggest seafront air show in Europe with a massive firework finale on the Sunday. Then you have the Birdman Competition, Bowls tournament and Eastbourne Extreme.

Other attractions include The Marina at Sovereign Harbour, Beachy Head Countryside Centre, the Allchorn Pleasure Boats as well as Theatres, Museums and a new art gallery set to open in July 08 as part of a new culture centre.
